11月22日（火）に東京工科大学八王子キャンパスのメディア学部の講座で、音楽家の村井邦彦氏が学生たちの音楽に関する質問に答える形で講義を行った。
この講座は、クラスの約300人の学生たちを前に、作家の松木直也氏がエンタテインメント・ビジネス関係のゲスト講師にインタビューを行うというもの。
1時間半ほどの講義で、村井氏は学生時代から始まって今日に至る音楽活動についての質問を受けたが、特に1970年代から80年代にかけての作曲と音楽プロデュースの時代に焦点を当てたやりとりが行われ、彼の代表曲のいくつか、例えば「札幌オリンピックの歌」や「翼をください」などを、その音楽ビデオと一緒にスクリーンに映し出して会場に流すといった工夫が凝らされた。
おそらく学生の村井氏に対するベストな質問は、「もし仮に今音楽ビジネスを最初から始めるとしたら、何をすると思われますか」というもので、それに対する村井氏の答えは以下のようなものであった。
「50年前のようにレコード店をやることはなく、それよりＩＴ関連の音楽ビジネスを始めるか、純粋に音楽の演奏家になったことでしょう」
最後に強調されたのは、自分の人生の目的を明確に持ってそれをあくまで追及することの重要性と、自分の分野に限らず、その他の様々な分野の友人と交流を保っていくことの大切さであった。

Musician Kunihiko Murai gave a lecture to students by answering their questions about music in a Media Studies Course at the Tokyo University of Technology in Hachioji, Tokyo on Tuesday, November 22.
This course is organized by Writer Naoya Matsuki, who interviews a series of guest speakers in entertainment business for about 300 students in class.
In the one-and-a-half hour class, Mr. Murai was asked about his music activities from his student days up to the present, mostly focusing on his songwriting and music producing business era in the 1970s through 1980s, and during his exchange with students, some of his signature songs such as "Sapporo Olympic Song" and "Wings to Fly" were played along with the music videos shown on the screen in the classroom.
Probably the best of all questions asked by the students to Mr. Murai was: "What would you do, should you start music business all over again now?"
His answer was something like: "I certainly wouldn't run a record shop now, as I did 50 years ago. I would rather do some IT-related music business or simply become a music performer."
In conclusion, he emphasized the importance of having and pursuing a clear objective in one's own life, and keeping personal connections not only with people in one's own field, but also with friends in various other fields.
